Playstation

Playstation was introduced in Japan in December 1994, the rest of the world in 1995, by Sony Interactive Entertainment (a division of Sony). It is a video gaming brand that consists of a media centre, a smartphone, two handheld consoles, online service, multiple magazines and, of course, five generations of consoles.

First generation console is the original PlayStation console released in Japan in 1994 and the rest of the world in 1995. In 2000, PS One (a smaller version of PlayStation) was released at the same time as PlayStation 2.

Second generation consists of PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 2 Slimline. The PlayStation 2 was released in 2000, with the Slimline version released in 2004. However, in 2007 and 2008, Sony released and even lighter versions of Slimline model.

Third generation was released in 2006, named PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 3 was then re-released as a slim version, like it's predecessor, in 2009 and in 2012 an even slimmer console was released as Super Slim PS3.

Fourth generation consists of PlayStation 4 console, PlayStation 4 Slim console and PlayStation 4 Pro console. They were released in 2013 and 2016 (the Slim and Pro versions).

The last, fifth, generation of PlayStation consoles was released in 2020 as a standard and a digital console. It was called, as expected, PlayStation 5.
